Second Anonymous Donation Boosts OlyCAP Capital Campaign
 |
Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCAP) received a second anonymous donation of $100,000 to its capital campaign in December. “I am overwhelmed, to say the least. Nothing like this has ever happened to OlyCAP” said Tim Hockett, Executive Director, “what incredible generosity, and we cannot even thank him or her.” The gift, like the previous one, came through the Seattle Foundation.

to just over $445,000, more than half way to OlyCAP’s goal of $700,000. When the campaign target is reached, OlyCAP will realize about $100,000 a year in savings, according to Hockett. The savings will be reflected in reduced overhead and increased amounts available to support direct program services. “This could not have happened at a better time,” said Hockett, “state and local governments are being hit hard and we anticipate reductions in some program funding.”
This year has seen increased pressure on local resources. Food bank visits are up, as are applications to OlyCAP’s emergency services such as the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the Home Fund. Virtually all of OlyCAP’s services are facing increased demand as the economy continues to take a toll on area families. Every additional dollar is helpful in sustaining OlyCAP’s programs.
